Marching for Meals

Major Gavin Baxter is on the move!
On 1 January, he began from Bluff to walk the length of Aotearoa on the Te Araroa Trail — a six‑month mission to raise awareness and support for The Salvation Army’s foodbanks.

A couple days in, Gavin has already powered through mud, puddles, paddocks and trails, soaking up the stunning scenery along the way. But this trek isn’t just about kilometres — it’s about drawing attention to the rising need for food support across New Zealand, especially in the tough post‑Christmas period when foodbank shelves run low.
Gavin’s not doing it alone. His wife, Bev, is right behind him in a campervan, keeping him supplied, supported and motivated as he marches north.

Help fuel Gavin’s journey — and fill foodbank shelves. Donate today to support Marching for Meals.
