Expanding again! New Hub in Lower Hutt

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re expanding The Foodbank Project in Wellington - we’ve made a new hub in Lower Hutt at Hutt City Salvation Army!

Thanks to the huge amount of support we’ve received from people in the Wellington region, we’re able to split donations down the middle of the region so that donors from Petone, along State Highway 2 and the eastern coast up past Castlepoint, will go to supporting people in need in Lower Hutt. All CBD and western donations will continue to go to the Porirua hub.

Liz and the team at the new Hutt City hub received their first delivery on Tuesday 9 October. They’re so excited to be part of The Foodbank Project, to receive the generous donations of the Hutt donors and to be able to help more people in the Lower Hutt community. Liz says that on average, they hand out 20-30 food parcels every week to around 90 people (both individuals and families).

"We're thrilled to be joining with the Foodbank Project! Numbers of food parcels distributed has doubled over the last twelve months indicating increasing stress on folk to make ends meet. Thanks so much for your support." - Liz, Hutt City Salvation Army Community Ministries Manager

If you live on the eastern side of Wellington from Petone and north, you can support the new hub - donate the items the foodbank really needs in the Hutt City bundle. You could also consider setting up a recurring donation!
