At the Table - Our Winter Appeal Story

Tonight, many people across Aotearoa will go without both a safe place to sleep and reliable access to food—moving between cars, couches, and overcrowded spaces, unsure of what tomorrow will bring.

Families like Jack* and Tula* know this instability all too well. Once struggling to find both shelter and enough kai for their children, your support has helped them move into a warm home with food on the table and a chance to start again.

The Winter Appeal is underway with August seeing The Foodbank Project adding in its requests for food support.

Keep your eyes peeled on The Foodbank Project to see how you can help support people with food this Winter.

Read how your support is helping turn uncertainty into stability and hope.

Nourishing Connections: Why your support still matters

Our latest survey shows foodbanks across Aotearoa are under growing pressure, with 80% unable to consistently meet demand for kai from whānau.

Rising costs, limited supplies, and stretched teams mean many Centres are doing more than ever just to keep up—while essentials like meat, milk, and fresh produce remain out of reach for many.

Your support helps meet urgent needs today and build stronger futures tomorrow.

Soul Food - Tomato and Basil Soup

Cold days call for warm, comforting bowls of goodness.
Our Tomato & Basil Soup is a winter favourite, bringing cosy warmth to chilly days. Rich tomatoes and fragrant basil create a nourishing, immune‑boosting meal that’s as comforting as it is satisfying.

Perfect with crusty bread or on its own, it’s an easy, make‑ahead option for busy days. Simple, hearty, and full of flavour, it’s true “soul food” — offering comfort and care when it’s needed most, especially for families using foodbanks this winter.

Te Kai Mākona- Creating Connection, Care, and Community in Kāpiti

Since launching its Social Market in November 2025, the Kāpiti team—led by Christoph and Entela—has focused on creating more than just a place to access food. They have now intentionally built a welcoming, respectful space where every person feels valued, which we think is good way to highlight how your support has enabled them to create this space.

This thoughtful environment fosters connection encourages conversation and strengthens belonging across the community.
