Timaru Foodbank

The Timaru foodbank has been helping the local community since the 1970s. Due to the cost-of-living crisis, we’ve seen a sharp increase in demand over the last three years as many Kiwis struggle to choose between the power bill or putting food on the table. Many find it extra hard during the school holidays as in term time they depend on the healthy lunches programme. Food support helps Kiwis experiencing hardship to gain stability and engage with other wraparound services.

When we put our food parcels together, we always try to include baked beans, spaghetti, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, noodles, tea bags, coffee, sugar, pasta, rice, biscuits, jam, margarine, toilet paper, soap and washing powder. If we run out of any of these items, they simply don’t go in. The help you give us, through The Foodbank Project helps us to put quality food parcels together, for people who come to us directly, and for many community groups such as the Women’s Refuge and the Cancer Society. Thank you!
